Add Markdown Editor to Standard Notes ✨

📌 Overview

This userscript enhances Standard Notes (web version) by adding a rich Markdown editor with a formatting toolbar, live preview, and PDF export.

⛔ This is an unofficial tool and has no affiliation with Standard Notes Inc. Developed independently out of appreciation for the Standard Notes platform.

⚙️ Installation Guide

  1. Install a userscript manager such as Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey:

  1. Install the userscript from the link below: 👉 Click here to install the script

  2. Open https://app.standardnotes.com/ — the Markdown editor will activate automatically.

💡 The script detects the default plain text editor and replaces it with the enhanced interface.

  • Live preview with syntax highlighting (highlight.js)

🔐 Security & Privacy

  • This script does not send or store your notes anywhere
  • All processing is done locally within your browser
  • Rendered HTML is sanitized using DOMPurify

📌 Limitations & Notes

  • Only supports the default plain text editor on https://app.standardnotes.com/
  • Does not work with other editor types (e.g., Bold Editor, Code Editor)
  • May require updates if Standard Notes changes their DOM structure
